Standby Man ensures safe execution of activities inside Confined Spaces such as tanks, vessels, columns, and pits by monitoring entry/exit and ensuring PTW compliance.
Responsibilities
✔ Monitor confined space entry activities at all times
✔ Manage entry & exit log register of all workers inside the confined space
✔ Ensure full compliance of permit — gas testing validity, ventilation & lighting
✔ Communicate continuously with safety officer, permit holder & rescue team
✔ Raise alarms in case of oxygen depletion, gas alarm, or emergency situation
✔ Prevent unauthorized entry & ensure PPE compliance
✔ Assist in rescue operations during emergencies
Tools & Equipment Knowledge
🔸 Gas monitors (LEL, O₂, H₂S)
🔸 Ventilation blowers & air ducts
🔸 Tripod & winch safety systems (awareness)
🔸 Radios/Walkie-Talkies
Qualifications
🎓 10th / ITI / Diploma
🛠 3 – 6 years of experience in confined space activities in Oil & Gas plants
📌 Shutdown experience preferred
