Description
The BA / N₂ Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring Breathing Apparatus systems and Nitrogen-related activities during confined space entry, inert entry, and shutdown operations. The role ensures workers’ safety in oxygen-deficient or hazardous environments within Oil & Gas facilities.
Responsibilities
Operate, inspect, and maintain Breathing Apparatus (SCBA, SABA) and life-support systems.
Set up, operate, and monitor Nitrogen Purging, Inserting, and Pressurization systems.
Conduct pre-use checks, testing, and calibration of BA equipment.
Assist in Confined Space Entry and Inert Entry by ensuring all safety equipment is functional.
Maintain proper nitrogen flow rates, pressures, and system integrity during operations.
Monitor personnel entering nitrogen/inert environments and maintain communication.
Maintain accurate records of BA usage, cylinder pressure, and purging activities.
Support emergency response and rescue operations when required.
Ensure strict compliance with HSE regulations, PTW (Permit-to-Work) and site safety procedures.
Coordinate with safety officers, supervisors, and operations teams for smooth and safe activities.
Qualifications
BE / Diploma / Technical Certification in Mechanical or related field (preferred).
Minimum 2–5 years' experience as BA/N₂ Technician in Oil & Gas / Shutdown / Turnaround projects.
Strong knowledge of:
Breathing Apparatus systems
Nitrogen purging & inerting process
Confined space safety
Hazardous environment entry
Physically fit and able to work in demanding, high-risk environments.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
